About The Book
Writing this book came out of a desire to give more exposure to the disease of Lewy Body Dementia which is often misdiagnosed and causes significant stress on loved ones. It is not intended to be a professional critique on the subject. Any information given, has come from my research which has included qualified health care professionals. The story spans over a period of sixteen years and has been derived from my journal writings. It is my account of the long process of learning and understanding what was happening to a loved one who was slowly slipping away. In expressing my true feelings of loss, frustration and compassion, I hope it will be of benefit to other caregivers whose loved ones suffer from any form of dementia. The contents of the book are not just for those who have experienced similar challenges. It is also a book of insights, to the amazing abundance of potential that is in each of us, to rise above the ashes of our circumstances and greet each new day with love in our hearts. The story also gives an account of reinventing my life by starting and opening a business. A brief family history is included to honour those who have help shape who we are today. It is a personal journey of loss, hope and redemption. |
